Episode 48: CosmoVaultlolgy

Welcome Guardians! After a bit of a hiatus, we're back! At the end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017 we started down a road to lay the groundwork for future episodes. This is the last one of those episodes as we set the stage for an our epic, in-depth, series exploring the Vault of Glass. This episode is going to introduce some of the Vault's mysteries as well as get some necessary groundwork about the Vex out of the way. This is the last lore-light episode before we dive hardcore into every aspect of the Vault of Glass

This is also a much more light-hearted episode since we've been away for a while. We get off track a lot discussing what we've been up to the last month or so (spoilers: Horizon Zero Dawn) and talking with this episode's special guest, Cosmololgy, aka Astrophysics Jesus. It's a silly ride this week, but one we had to get out of the way before we confront the mysteries of the Vault of Glass.

Episode 47: Community Artist Interview - JeredB and Matt Oishi

Heads up, Guardians, this isn't a lore focused episode!

On this episode of Ghost Stories we're thrilled to welcome two Destiny Community Artists, JeredB and Matt Oishi! Matt Oishi is best known for his silky smooth, anime and pop culture inspired, Destiny animations and chracter class profile artwork. Join us as we discuss art, the community, Destiny, lore, inspiration, and a whole lot more.

This episode contains a few moments of adult language, and should be considered PG-13. Listen responsibly, parental Guardians.

Episode 46: The Fruit of the Garden - Part 2

Welcome Guardians! We're back for the conclusion of our look into the "Fruit of the Garden" Missions, which serve as a jumping off point for a bunch of future episodes on some pretty big topics. As discussed previously, these missions introduce us to the Vex, the Cabal, Venus, Mars, Clovis Bray, the Black Garden, and a whole lot more. On this show we're picking up right where we left off and following the Guardian to Mars for the first time and following all the way through to the conclusion of the main Destiny story.

Special Episode: Merry Vexmas!

December 24, 2016

Merry Vexmas: A Visit From St. Everis

Merry Vexmas and Happy Dawning everyone!

Twas the night before Vexmas, when all through the ship,
Not a radar was blinking, not even a blip;
The vault space was cleared in the Tower with care,
In hopes that St. Everis soon would be there;
The Risen were nestled, all snug in their beds,
While Visions of Confluence flowed through their heads;
And I in my Battlecage, Greaves, Grips, and Wrath,
Had resigned my brain to a warm, briny bath;
When out in the Ruin there arose such a clatter,
I summoned my Sparrow to see what was the matter.
Away to the Spire I sped like a flash,
Praetorian Foil... Two goblins... now ash.

The distance of Earth in the dark Venus sky,
Gave rise to memories of days long gone by.
When, what through my Praedyth’s Revenge should I see,
But a red Sparrow there... with a Ghost in its lead,
The driver drove on, not a thing was amiss,
I knew in a moment it was St. Everis.
More rapid than rushing Fanatics he came,
He looked at me then, he called me by name;
“Now, Kabr, your friends await not at your leisure,
You must provide us with some Corrective Measure.
To the back of the Well, in the depths of the Vault!
You must find a way! Create some crack, some fault!”

Like a Dreg on a Pike he flew past in a rush,
Though clearly ashamed, Neville never once blushed.
Then up to the door, which I opened with friends,
He carried a pack full of old odds and ends.
I followed him then, with no way I could know,
How I could explain standing right here alone.
If six were required to open the door,
What happened to those I remember no more?
He seemed unaware, or at least unconcerned,
With this Paradox on which my troubled mind yearned.
I shook off these thoughts, it was time to push on,
To follow St. Ev’ris before he was gone

He was dressed in odd armor, his shader obscure,
As a statement of fashion, I saw not the allure.
A bundle of engrams was flung on his back,
And he looked like a pedler just opening his pack.
His eyes-how they cut through my soul with a stare,
Like only Awoken can do, when they dare.
His lips they were blue, like the oceans of home,
No beard on his chin, his hair dusky gloam.
He lead me down paths of impossible age,
Eventually landing upon Gorgons Maze.
His engrams he scattered, where e’r he felt best,
Though he never once touched the Spirit Bloom chest.

Within the Glass Throne, one last time he stood,
His work then completed, he knew it was good.
He looked to me once, with a wink in his eye,
Then pulled out his Ghost, and to orbit did fly.
Unsure what to do, I fell back to the maze,
Attempting to dodge one more Gorgon’s Gaze.
But it snuck up upon me - I knew what to do,
I let loose a rocket - the Wolfpack knew too.
To the wreckage I bound myself, body and soul,
To let in the Light, to bring hope to this hole.
And so I cry out, though I know not to whom,
“Push back the Darkness, Merry Vexmas to you.”

Episode 45: The Fruit of the Garden

Welcome Guardians! We're back to our reguleraly scheduled programming! This episode is going to be all about a series of Quests and Missions that open the doors to a lot of the topics we're going to cover in 2017. Lots of those shows will be diving deep into subjects that all get their start right here with this Story Mission. So join us as we pick up a thread we left dangling in our Dark Below / Crota's End episodes and diverge into the other main story in Vanilla Destiny, the search for the Black Garden. We're talking the Deus Exo Stranger Machina, Venus, Vex subtypes, our idiot Ghost, our idiot Cryptarch, Prince Uldren's glass cage of emotion, vague Dr. Strange spoilers, some cool stuff that got left out, and a whole lot more.

Episode 44: These aren’t ideas, they’re nonsense.

December 10, 2016

Episode 44: These aren't ideas, they're nonsense.

Welcome back, Guardians. Ok, first things first... THIS IS NOT A LORE EPISODE. It's been a month since our last show and as we get back into the swing of things, we felt it was worth spending some time back on the mic together and talk about where we've been, what we've been up to, and the future of Ghost Stories. This is a long, rambly episode, so don't exepct a lot of hardcore Destiny talk. If you want a quick TL:DL, you'll find a link below to our site with a post outlining the important parts of this episode.

If you're still reading, well... this episode is a doozy. A LOT has happened in the past month and we're all a bit loopy. No topic is off-limits as we rant and jam on a million different things. This is what a really freeform DGS sounds like. XD We will be back with lore next episode, but for now, we just wanted to get back on the mic and wax silliness.

Episode 43: Crota's End - Part 2

It's that time again. Your favorite Elder Scrolls podcast is back! This is Episode V and today we're headed to Skyrim! No... wait... that can't be right... can it?

It's totally not. This is Ghost Stories and today we're wrapping up our look at The Dark Below with Part 2 of the first expansion Raid, Crota's End. We're short one Xray on this show, so get ready for off topic shenanigans and rambling as we discuss the mechanics and lore behind the final encounter with The Son of Oryx, Crota. We're talkin' Oversouls, Chalices, Crota's demonic legacy, more church architecture, music, the Ascendent Plane as well as all the cheese to be found on this part of the Moon and how Crota is like, a C- student, at best. This is a long one, so don't yank out the LAN cable mid-encounter.

Episode 42: Crota's End - Part 1

Happy post-Halloween, Festival of the Lost, Samhain, Dios de Muertos! Last week we wrapped up The Dark Below and stopped right at the edge of the pit. Today... we're jumping in. This episode is Part 1 of our look into Crota's End, The Dark Below's Raid. We're covering the initial descent, the Stills-formerly-known-as-the-Abyss, picking locks, gothic architecture, lots and lots of Moon cheese, s-words, and a ton more. We also check in with First Crota along the way and listen to the laments of their ill-fated leader, Eriana-3, with the assistance from the vocal stylings of @neonbath (Chioma ffrom our Vex Fragment episodes). It's going to be a good one Guardians, sharpen up those blades.

Episode 41: The Dark Below - Pt. 2

Season 2 of Destiny Ghost Stories continues! This week we're finishing our look at Destiny's first major expansion, The Dark Below, but not before we do a full breakdown of all the major Hive Sects and their significance in the game. After that's out of the way we cover the two big TDB post-Mission Quests, "Extermination" and "Urn of Sacrifice", which culminate in a quest that is no longer available in-game, "Ritual of the Forsaken". We've also got the Union of Light Contest winners and all the usual sidetrack and derailing you've come to expect from the DGS Crew, including a lovely chat about one of our favorite events in Destiny, good ol' "Enemies Moving Against Each Other". It's a fun ride that takes us right up to the pinnacle of The Dark Below, Crota's End. Enjoy!

Episode 40: The Dark Below - Pt. 1

Welcome to Season 2 of Destiny Ghost Stories! This week we're not talking Rise of Iron... well, not directly. We know, we know, it's the new hotness, but it's also not even close to finished and there's still so much we don't know. So, as we kick off Y2 of DGS, we're going to be looking back at a lot of the important content that lead us to Rise of Iron and how they really set the stage for what we're experiencing now. It's going to be a big build up and we'll definitely be talking RoI along the way as we explore all the divergent story threads. To kick it all off, we're starting with the first Destiny expansion, The Dark Below. There is a lot in TDB that had major repercussions for the world of Destiny and many that are still ongoing in the current story. So join us as we explore some of the Guardian's first encounters with both the Hive and the Fallen, the first real clashes between the Hive and the Fallen themselves, more of Eris's craziness, more of Toland's awesomeness, the differences between pre and post Taken King quests, questions that never got answered, some that did, and a whole lot more.
